Enhancing Forest Data Exploration with the New Forest Explorer Dashboard

Forest Explorer is a flagship application for visualizing forestry data across Spain and Portugal. The platform currently provides a plot dashboard that enables users to explore tree-level information and forest stock metrics.

To expand its analytical capabilities, an enhanced dashboard has been developed that integrates a range of additional features, as illustrated in the accompanying figure. These new functionalities are designed to support more comprehensive exploration and analysis of forest data, providing users with deeper insights into forest structure and dynamics.

A user study involving forestry experts is currently being conducted to evaluate the advantages, usability, and potential limitations of the enhanced dashboard. The results of this study will inform future refinements and help ensure that the system effectively addresses the needs of forestry professionals.

In parallel, a web-based version of the new dashboard is under development, aiming to improve accessibility and facilitate broader use of advanced forestry data visualization and analysis tools.
